Most of you who follow TFJ are aware that band member Terry Van Zee (a.k.a. Dutch) was diagnosed with brain cancer a few years ago. He underwent surgery and multiple rounds of chemo and radiation.

We were grateful to find Dutch healthy enough to be willing and able to participate in our Songs of Love recording project in March of this year.  He took the train from Denver to Ottumwa IA to be with us.

About a month ago he was moved to an assisted living facility where he receives hospice care. His health has recently been on the decline. Your thoughts and prayers for Dutch and his family are both needed and greatly appreciated.

Recently TFJ band members Steve McCombs and Steve Mark, taped an interview about our work with Songs of Love for Bob Leonard's "In Depth" show on KNIA KRLS radio in Marion County Iowa. The interview will air on December 6th at 8am, 1pm & 6pm. Actually the show starts a little after the hour.

You can also hear the show by logging on to the radio website http://kniakrls.com/ and navigating to the "In Depth" show. They also save the show in the archives so you can catch it later if that is more convenient. Happy listening.

Upcoming Recording Sessions in Nashville

Greetings TFJ fans, friends and family.  The excitement is mounting as the date rapidly approaches for our annual Songs of Love recording project.  The second week of July we'll be convening at the beautiful home of Todd & Rita Shusterman in Hendersonville Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.  We'll spend the first few days at the house writing, arranging and rehearsing two songs.  Of course there'll be the usual socializing, jamming, not to mention enjoying a plethora of refreshing beverages.

Then midweek, it's off to the studio.  We'll spend three days recording and editing the raw tracks.  One of Todd's friends, John Pineiro has been kind enough to donate his time and the use of his studio so that we can create the "medicine of music" for two kids facing serious medical challenges.  The last day we'll do the final mix and email the mp3 version to the Songs of Love Foundation for delivery.

Even though Todd and Rita have been married for three years, none of the bandmembers (other than Todd) have yet had the privilege to meet her.  We hear that she's a great singer (which will definitely come in handy).  Rumor also has it she's a great cook.  So there are lots of reasons for us all to be looking forward to our 8th annual project.  Stay tuned!

    The TFJ Blog

Okay, here's the scoop.  We started off trying to do a more or less annual newsletter.  That didn't work out too well for a number of reasons, not the least of which was the ongoing challenge of keeping up with email address changes.

Enter the TFJ Blog.  Here we can tell you what's going on and you can post your comments.  You can check back as often as you like.  You can even comment on any post and/ or share it with your Facebook friends.
